Hello friends,

Do you know what the terms POA, HCP and DNR mean?

POA – Power of Attorney: A legal document in which one person allows another the legal authority to act on his behalf. These documents can be used in a variety of situations, ranging from end-of-life health-care decisions to everyday financial matters. In Massachusetts, the law allows powers of attorney to grant a wide range of decision-making abilities

HCP – Health Care Proxy: A simple document, legally valid in Massachusetts, which allows you to name someone (an “agent”) to make health care decisions on your behalf if you are unable to make or communicate those decisions.

DNR – Do Not Resuscitate: A type of advance directive which indicates that a patient should not be offered CPR or other lifesaving measures in the event of cardiac arrest or other medical emergencies.

Best,
Manor
